Ghana – Integration of DAP servers for geo data

I was contracted to serve as Project Manager for the Integration of DAP Servers into the IMS and Incorporation of Geophysical and Geological Data project, a part of the EU-funded Mining Sector Support Programme (MSSP) in Ghana.  Spatial Dimension (Pty) Ltd. executed the project in partnership with local company Sambus Ltd.

The supervising authority was the Minerals Commission of Ghana (MC), and other beneficiary and contributing institutions are the Geological Survey Department (GSD) and the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC).  All of these institutions fall under the Ghana Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR).

The Project, with an initial timeframe of some 6 months, was extended for 2 further months, to the end of June, 2010.  The budget was just under EUR 500,000.

A new database structure was designed and implemented.  The server hardware and software were procured, delivered and installed at the MC and training programmes have been conducted.
